CamGo Alternative: Free Video Chat With No Ads
A good CamGo alternative should make it obvious what's free. On Omlet, random 1-on-1 video and text chat costs nothing, there are no ads, and you don't need an account. The single optional extra is a country filter, free for your first day and then $3 one time. The free day starts with a card, and the $3 is charged once when it ends unless you cancel in Settings.
Here's what free usually means on chat sites, everything you get on Omlet without paying, and how to get the most out of the free version.
CamGo in brief
CamGo is a random video chat website where you're paired with strangers on camera. As with most sites in this space, what's free and what's paid can change, so check their current terms before you rely on any feature.
Omlet has no connection to CamGo, and the CamGo name belongs to its owner. This page compares categories of features rather than making claims about how CamGo works today.
Free can mean four different things
When a chat site says free, it usually fits one of these patterns. None is a scam on its own, but each has something to watch for.
| Model | How it works | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Free with ads | You chat free while ads pay the bills | Ad tracking cookies and pop-ups between chats |
| Freemium | Basic chat is free; extras cost money | Whether the extras are subscriptions |
| Free trial | Everything is free for a while, then a plan starts | Automatic renewal unless you cancel |
| Free with limits | Chat is free but capped | Caps on time, skips or features |
Omlet is freemium in the simplest form: free chat, one optional extra, no ads and no recurring charges. The free random video chat page explains the free side in more detail.
Everything you get without paying
- Random 1-on-1 video chat with people worldwide.
- Text chat with emoji alongside the video, with messages up to 1,000 characters.
- Next and Stop, plus the → and Esc keyboard shortcuts.
- Mic mute, camera off and partner mute.
- An egg avatar of your choice, shown to the people you chat with.
- Your partner's country and flag, so you can see where they are.
- The on-device safety blur, message checks and the report button.
- Installing Omlet to your home screen or desktop from your browser.
There's no account, so there's nothing to upgrade, and Omlet doesn't ask for your name, email address or phone number. Safety tools are never behind a payment: everyone gets the same blur, checks and reporting.
No ads, and what that changes
Omlet shows no ads and uses no advertising cookies. Page visits are counted without cookies, and Omlet doesn't sell data.
That matters in a video chat more than on most sites. Nothing competes with the conversation on your screen, no pop-ups appear between matches, and no ad networks build a profile from your visits. More on that in video chat with no ads.
The one optional extra
The country filter lets you choose one country, from more than 200, instead of Worldwide matching. Your first day is free; after that it's $3 one time, with no subscription. It applies to the device and browser you paid on, and clearing browser data removes it. There's one free day per device and home network, and payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card.
If you don't pay when the free day ends, matching simply goes back to Worldwide and everything else stays free.
Skip the filter if you just want variety. It can make matching slower when fewer people from your chosen country are online, and Worldwide matching costs nothing.
What free doesn't include
Being clear about what's free also means being clear about what isn't there at all. One of these is paid; the rest simply aren't features Omlet has:
- Choosing a country after your free day is the only paid feature.
- No friends list, follows or chat history. Every conversation stands on its own, and nothing is saved to an account because there isn't one.
- No group calls or rooms. Every chat is strictly one-to-one.
- English-only interface. You can talk in any language you share, but menus and buttons are in English.
- No set wait time. At quiet hours, finding a partner can take a little longer.
If any of those is a dealbreaker, it's better to know now than after you've spent time on a site.
Omlet and CamGo, feature by feature
Omlet's column is accurate today. The right-hand column is what to look up on CamGo's site, since we don't state another site's prices or plans.
| Feature | Omlet | What to check on CamGo |
|---|---|---|
| Video chat | Free | Whether it's free and any limits |
| Text chat | Free, alongside video | Whether text is offered |
| Ads | None | Whether ads are shown |
| Account | Not needed | Whether sign-up unlocks features |
| Location choice | Country filter: free first day, then $3 one time | Which filters exist and their pricing |
| Safety tools | The same for everyone, never paid | Whether any safety feature costs extra |
| Renewals | None | Whether paid plans renew automatically |
Make the free version work for you
- Chat when people are awake. Evenings in big time zones are livelier. The guide to the best time to chat across time zones helps you plan.
- Use flags instead of filters. When you match someone from a country you're curious about, ask them about it. No payment needed.
- Keep a hand near →. On a computer, Next is one key, so keep moving until a conversation clicks.
- Install it. A home screen icon gets you chatting in one tap.
- Go camera-off when you want. Turn your camera off and type on days you don't feel like being on video.
