Video Chat with People from Cambodia
Evenings in Cambodia often mean the riverside in Phnom Penh, the night markets of Siem Reap after a day around the Angkor temples, or a slow dinner in Kampot or Battambang. Khmer is the national language, written in its own graceful script, and English is common among younger adults and anyone working in tourism, so the two often mix in one conversation.
Cambodia is on Indochina Time (UTC+7) all year, the same clock as Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City. Its 8 PM is around breakfast on the US East Coast and early afternoon in Central Europe. Food is a great opener: fish amok steamed in banana leaves, beef lok lak, num banh chok noodles in the morning and the famous pepper from Kampot. Music fans can swap notes on 1960s Khmer rock or today's Cambodian pop, and Kun Khmer boxing has a big following.

Tips for chatting with people from Cambodia
- Use the polite "chum reap suor" with someone older than you and the relaxed "suosdei" with people your own age.
- Ask about Khmer New Year in April or the Water Festival in Phnom Penh; both are favorite times to travel home and celebrate.
- Go beyond Angkor: ask which province they'd recommend, from the seaside near Kep to the green hills of Mondulkiri.
- If English runs thin on either side, type key words in the text chat; our guide to chatting without a common language has more tricks.
Only meet people from Cambodia
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Cambodia, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Cambodia and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Cambodia, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Cambodia are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
