Video Chat with People from Tajikistan
The Pamirs and the Fann Mountains shape Tajikistan, and they're a favorite subject for people who live there. Conversations might come from Dushanbe, the capital, strolling along tree-lined Rudaki Avenue; in Khujand on the Syr Darya in the north; or in Khorog, a key stop on the Pamir Highway. Tajik is the main language. It's a form of Persian written in Cyrillic letters, so if you speak Persian or Dari you may follow more than you'd expect. Russian is widely understood, Uzbek is common in parts of the country, and English is more familiar to younger, city-based adults.
Dushanbe sits on UTC+5 all year. Evening there is late morning on the US East Coast and mid-afternoon in the UK, while India is just half an hour ahead. Start with food: oshi palov, qurutob served on a shared wooden platter, fresh round non bread and endless pots of green tea. Navruz, the spring festival in March, the turquoise Seven Lakes of the Fann range and the Shashmaqam musical tradition are other good bets. Use the country filter if you'd like to meet people from Tajikistan specifically.

Tips for chatting with people from Tajikistan
- If you speak Persian, try it: many Tajiks will understand you, though vocabulary and pronunciation differ, which makes for fun comparisons.
- Find out where in the country they live. Life in the Pamirs, in the north around Khujand and in the capital can be very different.
- Tea is central to hospitality, so asking what they're drinking or how their family serves guests is an easy, friendly question.
- Late morning in New York is evening in Dushanbe, a good time to press Start if you're in the Americas.
Only meet people from Tajikistan
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Tajikistan, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Tajikistan and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Tajikistan, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Tajikistan are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
