Video Chat with People from Ghana
Ghana is on GMT all year with no daylight saving, so it shares London's clock in winter and sits an hour behind it in summer. An 8 PM chat in Accra is 3 or 4 PM in New York and late evening in Central Europe. English is the official language and the easiest way to start, and you'll also hear Twi, Ga, Ewe, Fante, Dagbani and others, often mixed with English or Ghanaian Pidgin in the same breath.
The person on the other side of the screen might be in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Cape Coast or Takoradi. Food is a joyful topic: jollof (and the friendly rivalry with Nigeria over whose is best), waakye, kelewele, banku with grilled tilapia, or fufu with light soup. Music runs from highlife to hiplife and today's Afrobeats, and talk about the Black Stars, Ghana's national football team, rarely runs dry. Ask about kente cloth, the canopy walk in Kakum National Park or the beaches around Cape Coast, and you'll get plenty of recommendations.

Tips for chatting with people from Ghana
- Answer "ฦte sษn?" with "ฦyษ" (eh-YEH), "I'm fine," and the chat warms up right away.
- "Chale" (CHAH-leh) is everyday Ghanaian slang for friend or buddy, so if you hear it, you're doing fine.
- Many Ghanaians have a day name based on the weekday they were born; someone born on a Friday might be Kofi or Afua. Asking about day names is a great icebreaker.
- Ask what they'd recommend in Accra, from Osu's food spots to Labadi Beach; local tips make for easy, friendly conversation.
Only meet people from Ghana
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Ghana, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Ghana and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Ghana, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Ghana are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
