Video Chat with People from Nigeria
From busy Lagos to Abuja, Ibadan, Kano, Enugu and Port Harcourt, people in Nigeria bring a lot of range to a random chat. English is the official language, so you can talk from the first second, and you'll hear plenty of Nigerian Pidgin alongside Hausa in the north, Yoruba in the southwest and Igbo in the southeast. Nigeria sits on West Africa Time (UTC+1) all year, the same clock as London in summer, so its evenings fall in the afternoon on the US East Coast.
Music is an easy way in, from Afrobeats and highlife to whatever is trending in Lagos this week, and so are Nollywood films and football, whether that's the Super Eagles or a Premier League club. Food talk gets lively too: suya, pounded yam with egusi soup and, of course, jollof rice, along with the long-running friendly rivalry with Ghana over who makes it best. If you want to meet people from Nigeria specifically, the country filter does exactly that.

Tips for chatting with people from Nigeria
- If someone opens with 'How far?', reply 'I dey' (I'm good) and you'll sound like you've been there.
- Polite greetings matter. 'Good evening' is a warm way to open, especially with someone who seems older than you.
- Once you know where someone's from, try a greeting in their language: 'BΓ‘wo ni' for Yoruba speakers, 'Sannu' in Hausa, 'Ndewo' in Igbo.
- Nigerian English has its own expressions; 'I'm coming' can mean 'give me a moment', so ask if something sounds unexpected.
- Ask who they're listening to right now. Music recommendations are a fun way to keep a chat going.
Only meet people from Nigeria
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Nigeria, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Nigeria and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Nigeria, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Nigeria are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
