Video Chat with People from Montenegro
Montenegro is small but dramatic, with the fjord-like Bay of Kotor, beaches around Budva and Ulcinj, and mountains rising steeply behind the coast. Montenegrins you match with may live in Podgorica, the capital, in Nikšić, in old-town Kotor, where cats are local celebrities, in Herceg Novi, Bar or Cetinje, or up north near Žabljak and Durmitor. Montenegrin is the official language and is mutually intelligible with Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian, while Albanian is spoken in some areas, especially around Ulcinj.
English is common in coastal towns and with younger adults. Budva's clock is six hours ahead of New York's, so a summer sunset on the Adriatic arrives during the American workday. Topics that go over well: rafting the Tara River canyon, boat trips on Lake Skadar, the ancient olive tree in Bar, smoked ham and cheese from the village of Njeguši, kačamak, and Vranac red wine. Water polo and basketball draw big crowds too. Montenegro is available in the country filter as well, and our Croatia page covers the coast farther north.

How to say hello
A few words of Montenegrin make a great first impression, even if you switch to English right after.

|---|---|---|---|
| Montenegrin | Pozdrav! | POZ-drahv | Hello! / Greetings! |
| Montenegrin | Đe si? | JEH see | Hey, how's it going? (literally "where are you?") |

| Montenegrin | Dobro veče! | DOH-broh VEH-cheh | Good evening! |
Tips for chatting with people from Montenegro
- Try "Đe si?" as a greeting; it's distinctly Montenegrin and usually gets a grin.
- Ask whether they're from the coast, the old royal capital Cetinje or the mountain north; daily life, food and even the weather differ a lot.
- If you know any Serbian, Croatian or Bosnian, use it; you'll be understood, with a few local differences such as "đe" for "where".
- Ask about Kotor's cats or the climb to the fortress above the old town; it's an easy, visual topic.
Only meet people from Montenegro
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Montenegro, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Montenegro and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Montenegro, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Montenegro are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
