Video Chat with People from Paraguay
Paraguay sits in the heart of South America without a coastline, and the people you meet there might be in Asunción on the Paraguay River, in the bustling border city of Ciudad del Este, in riverside Encarnación with its summer carnival, or out in the vast, hot Chaco. It's one of the few countries in the Americas where an Indigenous language is spoken by much of the population: Guaraní and Spanish are both official, and many people blend them into a mix called jopara. English is less common, so a few words of Spanish or Guaraní go a long way.
Clocks in Asunción read the same as in Buenos Aires and São Paulo, so if you're elsewhere in southern South America, timing a late-evening chat takes no math at all. Ask about tereré, the ice-cold yerba mate passed around among friends, chipa cheese bread, sopa paraguaya (which, surprisingly, is a cornbread rather than a soup), the Paraguayan harp, polka paraguaya music, and football, which people follow with real passion. Spanish learners can warm up with our Spanish page.

Tips for chatting with people from Paraguay
- Opening with "Mba'éichapa?" is a lovely surprise for many Paraguayans, since few people from abroad know any Guaraní.
- Guaraní words pop up in Spanish all the time, so when you hear one, ask what it means; most people enjoy explaining.
- Paraguayans use vos with friends, so "¿De dónde sos?" simply means "Where are you from?"
- If your partner is holding a guampa (the cup used for tereré) during the chat, asking about it is an instant icebreaker.
Only meet people from Paraguay
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Paraguay, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Paraguay and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Paraguay, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Paraguay are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
