Video Chat with People from Qatar
Life in Qatar centers on Doha and nearby cities like Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Lusail and Al Khor, so the person on your screen will probably describe a mix of glass towers, old souqs and desert just beyond town. Arabic is the official language, and English is used almost everywhere in daily life because so many residents come from abroad, from South Asia and the Philippines to Europe, Africa and other Arab countries.
When it's 9 PM in Doha, it's early evening in London and 2 AM in Manila, since Qatar stays on UTC+3 all year. Sport is an easy opener after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the country hosts plenty of other international events. Food fans can compare machboos, luqaimat dumplings drizzled with date syrup, and karak, the sweet, spiced milk tea sold at roadside cafés. Ask about Souq Waqif, the National Museum's desert-rose design or the dunes at the Inland Sea. You can meet people in Qatar with the country filter, and our Bahrain page covers a nearby island nation.

Tips for chatting with people from Qatar
- Ask "Have you always lived in Qatar?" rather than assuming; many people will tell you about two or three places they call home.
- Summer days are very hot, so evenings are when the Corniche, malls and cafés come alive, and late chats are normal.
- If football comes up, ask which match or stadium they remember from 2022; it's a story many residents enjoy telling.
- Karak has surprising depth as a topic: ask where to find the best cup and how sweet they take it.
Only meet people from Qatar
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Qatar, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Qatar and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Qatar, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Qatar are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
