Video Chat with People from Oman
Oman stretches from the rugged fjords of Musandam in the north to Salalah in the south, where a summer monsoon season called khareef turns the hills green and misty. People you meet may be in Muscat, Sohar, Nizwa, Sur or Salalah, or in a village tucked into the Hajar Mountains. Arabic is the official language, English is common in business and tourism, and some families also speak Baluchi or Swahili, a reminder of Oman's long seafaring ties with South Asia and East Africa.
Oman uses Gulf Standard Time, the same as Dubai and an hour ahead of Riyadh and Doha, so 9 PM in Muscat is 10:30 PM in India and 5 PM in London during winter. Conversation flows easily around swimming in wadis, dune trips in the Wahiba Sands, frankincense from Dhofar, dhow building in Sur, and shuwa, meat slow-cooked underground for special occasions. Hospitality often starts with kahwa and dates, so asking how someone takes their coffee is a lovely opener. Set the country filter to Oman to meet people there; our Qatar page covers another Gulf neighbor.

Tips for chatting with people from Oman
- Oman's clock runs an hour ahead of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, so double-check the time if you chat with people across the region.
- Meet someone from Salalah? Ask about the khareef; the green, foggy summer surprises a lot of visitors, and locals love describing it.
- Outdoor spots make easy, visual conversation: the terraces of Jebel Akhdar, Wadi Shab, or the turtle beaches at Ras al Jinz.
- If you're practicing Arabic, say so up front and ask for one correction per sentence; our Arabic phrases page has a few to start with.
Only meet people from Oman
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Oman, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Oman and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Oman, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Oman are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
