Video Chat with People from Bahrain
Bahrain is an island nation in the Gulf, small enough that Manama, Muharraq, Riffa and Isa Town are all a short drive apart. Alongside Arabic, the official language, you'll hear plenty of English, and the mix of Bahraini families and residents from across Asia, Europe and the Arab world gives chats a very international feel. Many people also cross the causeway to Saudi Arabia for weekends, work or family visits.
Manama evenings are lunchtime or early afternoon in New York, as Bahrain keeps UTC+3 all year. Motorsport fans may bring up the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir, while history fans can talk about Bahrain Fort and the old pearling trail through Muharraq, recognized by UNESCO. Food conversations often turn to machboos, sweet muhammar rice served with fish, and halwa from long-established sweet shops. Bahrain is in the country filter too, though on a small island the wait for a match can be longer when not many people from there are online. For another Gulf neighbor, read our Qatar page.

Tips for chatting with people from Bahrain
- The Bahraini weekend is Friday and Saturday, which makes Thursday and Friday nights relaxed times for longer conversations.
- If someone mentions "the causeway", they mean the bridge to Saudi Arabia; ask about trips across it.
- English is widely understood, but opening with "marhaba" shows effort and usually earns a smile.
- Ask about Muharraq's old houses and pearl-diving history; it's a part of Bahrain's story many people enjoy explaining.
Only meet people from Bahrain
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Bahrain, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Bahrain and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Bahrain, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Bahrain are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
