Video Chat with People from Turkey
Turkey (Türkiye in Turkish) bridges Europe and Asia, and Istanbul sits on both sides of the Bosphorus. Beyond it you might meet people from the capital Ankara, the Aegean city of İzmir, Mediterranean Antalya, Bursa, Trabzon on the Black Sea, or Gaziantep in the southeast, each with its own food pride. The country keeps UTC+3 all year, so a 9 PM chat in Istanbul is early evening in Western Europe and early afternoon in New York.
Turkish is the main language, and English comfort varies, with more speakers in big cities and around tourism. Conversation starters are everywhere: a long Turkish breakfast, glasses of tea through the day, baklava from Gaziantep and kebab from Adana, the rivalry between Istanbul's big football clubs, Turkish TV series that are popular far beyond the country, and trips to Cappadocia or the turquoise coast. Our Turkish phrase guide helps with pronunciation and polite forms.

Tips for chatting with people from Turkey
- Use 'Nasılsınız?' (polite) with someone who seems older or formal; 'Nasılsın?' fits a relaxed chat with people your own age.
- Turkish spelling is phonetic: 'ç' is 'ch', 'ş' is 'sh' and the dotless 'ı' is a short 'uh', so you can read names in the text chat aloud.
- Ask what goes on their ideal breakfast table; expect cheeses, olives, simit, eggs and plenty of tea.
- Istanbul spans two continents, so asking whether someone lives on the European or the Asian side is a fun local question.
Only meet people from Turkey
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Turkey, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Turkey and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Turkey, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Turkey are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
