Video Chat with People from the Czech Republic
Prague gets the postcards, but the Czech Republic reaches well beyond its bridges and spires. Brno has a lively student scene, Ostrava turned its old ironworks into a venue for concerts, Plzeň and Olomouc have their own historic centers, and the countryside is dotted with castles and forest trails. Czech is the language of daily life, Slovak is widely understood, and English is common among younger adults and in the cities.
Central European Time applies (UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer), so a Czech evening is afternoon across the Americas and the early hours in East Asia. Ice hockey is a national passion and a great opener, along with hiking in the Krkonoše mountains, mushroom picking in autumn, weekends at the family cottage, the cartoon Krtek (the Little Mole) and hearty food like svíčková or fruit dumplings.

Tips for chatting with people from the Czech Republic
- Use "Dobrý den" with someone you've just met and "Ahoj" once things feel relaxed; Czech has a formal and an informal "you", so let them suggest the switch.
- Try saying "ř", the sound in the composer Dvořák's name. It's famously hard, and attempting it usually gets a laugh.
- Czechs celebrate name days, so asking when theirs is makes a charming question.
- Both "Czechia" and "the Czech Republic" are correct names, and our Czech phrases help with the rest.
Only meet people from the Czech Republic
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from the Czech Republic, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Czech Republic and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from the Czech Republic, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from the Czech Republic are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
