Video Chat with People from Estonia
Estonia is the northernmost of the Baltic states, and people you meet might be in Tallinn, with its medieval Old Town and startup offices, the university city of Tartu, the summer resort of Pärnu, Narva on the eastern border, or the islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. Estonian is a Finnic language, close to Finnish, with no grammatical gender and no future tense. Many people also speak Russian, especially in Tallinn and the northeast, and English is very common among younger adults.
Estonia keeps Eastern European Time, which makes a 9 PM chat in Tallinn 11 AM in Los Angeles. Sauna culture runs deep, including the traditional smoke saunas of Võromaa, and walking across bogs on wooden boardwalks is a classic weekend outing. Tech fans can talk about the country's digital public services and startup scene, while food lovers can ask about dark rye bread, kama, or sprat sandwiches. The Song Festival in Tallinn brings huge choirs together every few years. Omlet's country filter lets you choose Estonia, and our Latvia page covers the country next door.

Tips for chatting with people from Estonia
- Estonian vowels can be short, long or extra long, and the difference changes meaning; ask someone to demonstrate with a few words.
- Ask about saunas: many people have opinions on temperature, birch whisks and jumping into snow or a lake afterward.
- Skype was originally built by Estonian engineers, which makes a fun fact to bring up with anyone into tech.
- If you speak Finnish, try it; many Estonians understand a fair amount, and comparing words is fun.
Only meet people from Estonia
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Estonia, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Estonia and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Estonia, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Estonia are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
