Video Chat with People from Lithuania
Lithuania is the southernmost of the three Baltic states, and your match could be living in Vilnius, with its baroque Old Town and the playful Užupis district, in Kaunas with its interwar modernist buildings, in the port city of Klaipėda, or in Šiauliai and Panevėžys. Lithuanian is the national language and is often noted by linguists for keeping many very old features. Russian and Polish are spoken in some communities, and English comes easily to many younger adults.
Clocks in Vilnius read seven hours later than in New York, so a Lithuanian evening is your early afternoon if you're on the US East Coast. Basketball is close to a national passion; mention Žalgiris or the national team and you'll rarely get a short answer. Food lovers can talk cepelinai (big potato dumplings), bright pink šaltibarščiai cold beet soup, kibinai pastries from Trakai and šakotis, a spiky tree-shaped cake. Summer trips to the dunes of the Curonian Spit come up often too. You can meet people in Lithuania with the country filter, or read our Latvia page before crossing the border northward.

Tips for chatting with people from Lithuania
- "Ačiū" (thank you) sounds a lot like a sneeze to English speakers, which makes it easy to remember and usually gets a smile.
- Ask whether they're from Vilnius or Kaunas; the two biggest cities have a friendly rivalry worth hearing about.
- Midsummer in late June brings bonfires, flower crowns and long bright nights, and it's a great topic in early summer.
- If you're learning, ask about word endings; Lithuanian nouns change form a lot, and people are usually pleased you tried.
Only meet people from Lithuania
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Lithuania, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Lithuania and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Lithuania, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Lithuania are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
