Video Chat with People from Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is a Caribbean island where rainforest, beaches and lively towns sit close together. The people you meet might be in San Juan, from the blue cobblestones of Old San Juan to the street murals of Santurce, in Ponce on the south coast, in Mayagüez on the west, in surf-friendly Rincón, or on the smaller islands of Vieques and Culebra. Spanish is the everyday language for most people, and English is official too, widely understood and often mixed into conversation, especially around San Juan.
Puerto Rico uses Atlantic Standard Time all year, four hours behind GMT, so a 9 PM chat in San Juan is late afternoon in California and the same hour as in Santo Domingo. Good topics include salsa, bomba and plena, reggaeton, baseball and basketball, the glowing bioluminescent bays, hikes in El Yunque, and food like mofongo, arroz con gandules and alcapurrias from a beachside kiosk. Whichever language you lean on, our Spanish and English pages have phrases ready to go.

Tips for chatting with people from Puerto Rico
- Switching between Spanish and English in one sentence is completely normal in Puerto Rico; follow along in whichever language you're comfortable with.
- Puerto Rican Spanish often turns an r at the end of a syllable into an l sound, so "Puerto Rico" can sound like "Puelto Rico". It's a regional accent, not a mistake.
- Ask for a recommendation: their favorite beach, or a chinchorro (a casual roadside food spot) worth the drive.
- Many Puerto Ricans live on the US mainland, so you may meet someone chatting from New York or Orlando who grew up on the island and has plenty to share about it.
Only meet people from Puerto Rico
Omlet matches you Worldwide by default. To meet only people from Puerto Rico, use the country filter, the only filter Omlet has:
- Open Omlet and press Country on the control panel.
- Search for Puerto Rico and select it.
- Press Start. Press Next to meet someone else from Puerto Rico, or switch back to Worldwide any time.
Your first day is free: you add a card through Stripe to start it, and nothing is charged that day. When the 24 hours end, the country filter costs $3 one time, charged to that card, unless you cancel before then in Settings (if you cancel, you can still pick a country until the day ends). It's not a subscription, and it stays unlocked on that device and browser. It doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data removes it. There's one free day per device, home network and card. Payment goes through Stripe, so Omlet never sees your card number.
The filter works both ways, and matching can be slower when fewer people from Puerto Rico are online. Chatting itself is free, and Worldwide matching never costs anything.
Your own country is detected automatically and shown to the people you meet as a flag.
